BaseMail 1.0 July 12, 1995
Copyright 1995 Steve Keith
-- Added August 4, 1995 rev 1.1 --
-- IMPORTANT: Some sysops may find it necessary to modify their NETMAIL --
-- conference set up in PCBSETUP. If you are having problems, follow the --
-- directions at the end of this doc file to make sure your PCBSETUP is --
-- configured correctly. --
This PPE was written using PPLC ver 2. It was written for PCBoard 15.1,
but I believe it will work on just about any version. It works well on
my system. If you have problems with it, I will be glad to try and fix
them. However, I will in no way be held responsible for any damage it
may do to your system. No warranty is given or implied. If you don't
agree with this, then erase the program now.
This software makes it easy for your users to enter FIDO Netmail and
Internet E-Mail that has to be routed through a FIDO gateway. It
takes advantage of QFRONT's Nodelist search capabilities to allow your
users to search, then pick a node to send mail to. If you don't have
QFRONT (You should get it, it's great!) you can still use this PPE.
All future versions of this program will be free for registered users.
Plans include adding an Internet E-Mail directory that people can add
addresses to on-line, and then search them on-line.
The program has been written to support multiple nodes. Testing was
done on a 2-node system. If you run into problems with higher node
counts, be sure to let me know.
INSTALLATION:
______________________________________________________________________________
There are 2 programs you must install, one is installed as a CMD.LST
entry, and the other is installed as a PCBTEXT replacement line.
Part 1. Installation of MAILUU.PPE
MAILUU.PPE is the program that asks the user what type of mail he wants to
leave, Internet or FIDO Netmail. It also allows the user to search through
the Node List if you use QFRONT.
1. Create a directory to hold all the files. (i.e. MD F:\BASEMAIL)
2. Unzip the files into that subdirectory (PKUNZIP A:\BMAIL10S F:\BASEMAIL)
3. Edit the MAILUU.CFG file to suit your needs. A sample CFG file is listed
below, and included with this program for you to edit.

__________________________________________________________________________
You have 3 choices as to where you want to put the command that calls
this PPE.
1. If you put the command in the MAIN BOARD CMD.LST file, it will be available
from your Main Menu as the command NETMAIL.
2. If you have a NETMAIL conference-specific CMD.LST. You can put the
command NETMAIL there. It will only be available in your NETMAIL
conference.
3. If you have a NETMAIL conference-specific CMD.LST, you can put it
there, AND in your main board conference as well. This way, it will be
available in both places. If the user types NETMAIL, he is switched
into your netmail conference.
This installation routine will assume that you have both a main CMD.LST file
and a NETMAIL conference CMD.LST. Follow only the part that is applicable
to your situation.
4. Go into PCBSETUP, choose option B and then option B again.
5. Cursor down to the line which is the Name/Location of your default CMD.LST
file. (Type in a file name and path if one doesn't already exist.)
6. Hit the F2 key to edit the CMD.LST file.
7. Type the Alt-I key combination to insert a line.
The line you add should look like this (sorta):
Command Security PPE/MNU file
==================================================================
1)NETMAIL 40 F:\BASEMAIL\MAILUU.PPE
8. After you are satisfied with your entry, type the ESCAPE key and then
type Y for SAVE. Then type the Escape Key twice.
9. Select the J option to join a conference. PAGE and CURSOR down to your
Netmail Conference and hit the enter key. Then PAGE and CURSOR down to
the conference specific CMD.LST file. Do exactly as you did for the
DEFAULT CMD.LST file. Then Escape back to the main menu and type Q
for Quick Save.
*****************************************************************************
You have now installed the first portion of BaseMail. The second portion
allows your users to use the RE command to reply to messages in the
NETMAIL conference.
1. Change to the directory that holds your PCBTEXT file. This is usually
your PCBoard GEN directory (CD F:\PCB\GEN)
2. Type MKPCBTXT PCBTEXT. (Where PCBTEXT is the name of your PCBoard
TEXT file.)
3. Hit the F3 key, type 197 and hit the enter key. Replace the text
line by typing !F:\BASEMAIL\REPLY.PPE.
4. Hit the F3 key, type 612 and hit the enter key. Replace the text
line by typing !F:\BASEMAIL\REPLY.PPE.
5. Type the escape key to save and exit.
6. Edit the REPLY.CFG file with your personal information. Here is a sample
copy of REPLY.CFG:
